The benefits of introducing a shifter into the audio signal path, focus on the behavoir of a PA system at the point of feedback where an increase in the threhold of maybe 6dB can be achieved, before ringing occurs. For speech reproduction, the very small fixed frequency shift is quite imperceptible.
We have recently developed a frequency shifter in the form of an unhoused PCB which can be hardwired into any of our amplifier products as a Mustang factory option. Other technologies such as filtration systems, however fast or finely tuned, detract from the relatively flat frequency responses of current microphone and loudspeaker technologies. The SRS.1 PCB features a particularly wide frequency response, and so retains the natural sound of the system, without intrusion.
For the purists, concerned at the shift in frequency from a musicality point of view, a facility has been provided to control an electronic bypass circuit, remotely from the amplifier.
