ANSLA
control system
|
The ANSLA system was developed to meet the requirements of sites where the ambient noise levels were liable to change dramatically but where speech intelligibility and comfort needed to be maintained throughout.
A ambient N noise S sensing and L level A adjustment
The system comprises a transmitter and receiver in its simplest form. The transmitter can be compared to a microphone which is located so as to pick up the ambient acoustic noise, and the data collected is interpretted and fed by cable to the receiver which responds by changing the gain of a critical signal path, usually operating at 0dB level. As the ambient noise reaches its maximum, so the receiver approaches unity gain. As the ambient noise subsides to its minimum then the receiver tracks this too, and in practice, a variation of more than 50dB is possible. Various settings and adjustments are available to the commissioning engineers to set maximum/minium levels and tracking speed, etc. The PA system into which the ANSLA concept is applied, need to be designed for the "worst-case" condition - i.e. to achieve intelligibilty and sound pressure levels sufficient for the maximum expected ambinet noise level. The ANSLA circuitry then operates to reduce the PA system gain
The equipment is not a catalogued standard range, but can be manufactured quickly from sub-assemblies held in stock at our factory. The receiver units can be presented as a rack mounting fixed format item with up to three independent channnels, whilst modular versions can accommodate up to 8 channels. Due the system flexibility, single transmitters can be applied to multiple receiver channels, or conversely, several strategically placed transmitters can be allocated to a single channel. Transmitters are available with either integral or remote microphones.
